These queens are truly unique and very special.  Over the years we have continually focused our breeding efforts into only selecting Carniolan x Italian BREEDER QUEENS from our WINTER HARDY, GENTLE and PROLIFIC Ohio Queen lines and those from Bob Binnie / Sue Cobey line of NWC x Caucasian BREEDER QUEENS.

After crossing the Southern Appalachian line of BREEDER QUEENS with our Northern Appalachian line of BREEDER QUEENS we have been blown away with the results. Beautiful Queens with colonies that brood down in the fall, over winter with frugality, explode in the spring when the timing is right and maintain a prolificness rarely seen in other genetic lines.

Our Appalachian Mutt Queens exhibit characteristics such as cold hardiness, gentle disposition, typically dark in color, increased propolis and honey production and easy to work with.

Folks across the country have used our queens to also cool off spicy colonies and to introduce fresh genetics into their breeding operations.
